Dr. Ricard Borrell works since 2003 at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, Heat and Mass Transfer Technological Center. His research topics include development of innovative parallel algorithms and software for large-scale parallel computers of various architectures within new parallel computing paradigms and following hybrid strategies (distributed memory, shared memory multiprocessing, GPU computing); development of parallel software libraries in the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) context, including multi-physic problems, multi-flow simulations, linear solvers, unstructured dynamic meshes, etc. Dr. Ricard defended his PhD thesis entitled “Parallel algorithms for Computational Fluid Dynamics on unstructured meshes” at UPC in 2012. He has long-term experience with top Peta-scale supercomputers in Europe and US. Recently he attended the Argonne Training Program on Extreme-Scale Computing (ATPESC), which provides intensive hands-on training on the key skills, approaches, and tools to design, implement, and execute computational science and engineering applications on current high-end computing systems and the leadership-class computing systems of the future.
